November TICA Arcadia cat show

I woke up today and my parents said, let’s go to cat show! Guess that decided for us. We missed our kitties and still don’t have kitties at home. We saw the cute blue show kitten from degoonacoon again. She is now 5 months old and growing quickly! Mr. Kite was missing, to our disappointment. The Siberian kitties are all growing up, as well as L.A.P.D.’s 6 month old, and Degoonacoon’s orange alter male. He is getting pretty big.

Meeting 13 Kitties, and more, Pat 2

So it’s finally time to meet the kittens! All 10 were in a room waiting for us on a couch, a scratching post, and all over the floor. There was also nanny auntie watching us, and little did we know, mom was in there too, but she came out much later without us noticing. She was watching us all along! We immediately recognized the 4 month  olds (they are 5 month old to date) who were sisters to the show cat. One was blue and one was tabby and they both had the same expressions.

We were once again given the lazer pointer and some toys and left alone for a bit in the room by ourselves to play with the kittens, piling them all on the couch and observing them, and picking them up and taking pictures (because you have to have pictures to remember them all!). We narrowed down to three boys, much to Alex’ disappointment since she wanted us to pay attention to the pretty girls too. Somehow they were bigger and naughtier so we picked them out. She said she was probably going to pick a female out of the group to keep since they were pretty good looking.

Even though the eight 10 week old kittens were almost all identical, here’s how we told them apart: The one we liked had a fishnet kind of patter, and he always looked like he was calm and smiling. He even flipped over on his back and showed us, “hey, I’m a boy, see a boy, pick me!” One of them had bigger paws than the rest and took to licking and sticking to my dad. He was my dad’s favorite and also darker blueish in color mixed in the brown (because their mom was blue).  The final one was my favorite, and I just recognized his huge round eyes and expression. He was a bit jumpy though, and I somehow spooked him three times by looking at him closely.

What happened to the 4 week and 6 week olds, you wonder? Well, after all that observing and choosing, Alex brought in two more very tiny kittens! One was 6 weeks, one was 4 weeks old from Bezees. She only had one male in each litter. My mother went nuts seeing these two, and all our decision making on the last bunch went out the window. Now she wanted these two.

After taking more pictures, we were ready to settle down and make a deposit. We get to visit again in a few weeks when the kittens are a bit older, and then we can make our final decision on which of 2 the 5 boys we wanted to keep.  Since we were first in line, we get first choice and don’t have to worry about the family that was visiting after us haha. It’s already been a week and I wonder how big the kittens have grown since then. I hope my mom doesn’t choose the younger ones so we get to have kittens sooner!

Meeting 13 kittens, and more, part 1

Finally recovered from kitties overload to post about last weekend’s visit of the three litters. We had two male kittens in mind, but were meeting the females and a 1 year old male alter named Cudahy too. After an anxious hour’s drive, we finally arrived to a cute cozy house under a giant tree, and just like the last breeders 10 years ago, kitties were already peering at us at the windows.
We first met the ladies. A 14 year old greeted is at the door. A young female sniffed me and said I wore lotion and thats stinky too. We were given a laser pen to play with the rest, and surprisingly, the fastest one was a 16 year old and Cudahy. We fell in love with a round-eyed 1 year old named Pokanoh? It was very hard remembering all their exotic names. Poka, though, was not for sale.
Eventually, we made friends with all the females and I had the young one who said i was stinky leaning on my back, but it was time to meet the dads outside.
There were three giant males, two tabbies, and one blue. The first tabby was even breeding with a girlfriend at 9 years old! His name was Bezee? He liked to butt heads a lot, and was the dad of the 6 week olds and 4 week olds. The second tabby ra-rowed at us, it was very cute. I can’t seem to remember his name but it will probably come back later. My parents took turns carrying the boys and decided the blue was most solid and heaviest, but it was deceiving because he was not as fluffy. He was the dad of the 5 month olds (2 sisters of the blue show cat), and grandpa to the 10 week olds (8 brown kittens).

She’s 14 years old, greeter at the door.

This is Pocahnoh? but she was not for sale

This is young Pocahno? she was not for sale 🙁

She is 16. The fastest at lazer pointer chasing.

They lined up in a row for us.

2 year old alter male Cudahy was available for adoption.

This female made friends with me.

Bezees, still good enough to breed at 9 years old!

Bezees? is 9 years old and still good enough to breed!

see how tall he is?

He was very heavy.

Visitng kittens today, take notes!

We are visiting degoonacoon kittens today, so excited! she has some very strict rules. No cologne or perfume she says, wear something comfortable, and bring notes and paper she says. Sounds like we will have a lot of fun. Travel will take us about an hour. From talking to the breeder, it sounds like we are going to meet about 11 boy and girl kittens! I wonder if we will be stuck there all day.

Meeting kittens on sunday!

Yay we are meeting the kittens Sunday! Dagoonacoon said we are the first one to pick kittens, but she has to pick one for herself first, that doesn’t matter. The oldest are 10.5 wk, then 6 wks and 4 wks. Wonder how the 4 wks old look like. Must be tiny hehe.

Kittens Alert!

So Degoonacoon was teasing us with some pictures of kittens this week. We got to see their 9 week olds, and the younger litter. I lost track how old her kittens were but she says she has 5 males in total from her three litters and she will be keeping one, someone was interested in an altered show cat, and we might get to visit her this Sunday! Not sure who asked who on the last part. Most likely mother asked and we are waiting for her response. Here is a pic of the youngest litter with mom.

The Scary Moving Camera (Boo!)

While webcam stalking the lovely Vaskebjorn maine coon cat family, we noticed that sometimes the cats stare straight into dining room camera. At first we thought this was a coincidence, but after a while, (and with some testing) we have confirmed that they can hear the camera when you pan it across the room. After knowing that, we had some fun and these are some of the reactions we got. Red even went all the way up to the camera and sniffed it, so all you could see was his ear hehehe. Little kitten Fleur was caught falling asleep one day, and she could not hang on any longer to keep checking the camera haha. Layla though, she is seasoned and doesn’t care about the camera much.

Degoonacoon’s kitten

We finally met Degoonacoon’s blue kitten today and she looked just like smokey! It was her first show, so she was a bit shy. They also have another kitten in the litter that she kept, but she was also female. There are brown males from her other litter, hopefully they will be the right ones.

October 16, 2010 cat show in Arcadia, Ca

Degoonacoons called us tonight and let us know she would be showing her kitten at the cat show tomorrow. Guess we are attending. She was also busy currently with her three litters if kittens! We didn’t know she had that many. They were all brown with no white feet. Mother also mentioned that the noises at home seemed to have stopped after the new kittens were born…
