Double Headed Kitten

So since little Tigger hurt his paw, he’s been giving himself some alone time off an on during the day, especially when Mochi Bear gets too rough with him. One way is to sit inside the hole in the tree house. Mochi, being the crazy kitten that he is, managed to jump in there with him, and so now both of their heads are sticking out and biting at each other. Then they started grooming, and then more biting. They could not seem to decide which they would do.

The Show Kittens

When my parents went to pick up TIgger and Mochi, they also met Buck, one of the two boys we originally picked from the older litter.  He was the one I liked most with the big oogly eyes. He was only 5 months old but already very big and furry! They took a picture of him with Tigger at their house, and I can barely make out his face. After you look at him a while though, you do recognize the features.  We met him again at a cat show last weekend. Timbucktoo of Degoonacoon was now a show kitten, along with his sister, Carley? I forget now, I will have to ask about her name again. They were super playful and super sweet. When the judges came by to look at them both, they both rolled over on their backs like they were doing a synchronized dance.  I can’t believe our kittens will be big and furry like these two in only a month!  Oh yes, and they both made it to the finals for Best of Breed. I don’t remember what else and what ranking because we can hardly concentrate with these kitties rolling around hehehehehe. I forgot to mention, Remington, or Remy, was also at the show. She’s grown a lot since last month as well! She was also in the finals with the other two with awards.

Kittens 16-18 weeks …

Tigger was born September 28, Mochi was born October 12 … or something like that. I came home to two dark little fur balls two weeks ago after snowboarding and finally have a chance to update. They didn’t seem to pay attention to me, but like all kitties, even young ones, you know they are already observing you but just pretending not to pay attention. Mochi played with me right away. Tigger took some time, but after about 15 minutes, he finally decided to accept me and look me straight in the eye, came over to rub against me and even crawled up and claimed my lap for sleeping later that night. Since then, they’ve grown about a head in length of course, averaging 2 oz. per day.  They both even go measure their own weight on the electronic weight, it is quite amazing. Tigger is about 8lb today, and Mochi about 6lb.

These two kitties are about two weeks apart, tigger is dainty and slender, Mochi Bear is extra furry, shorter, rounder, thicker, and more hyper. He has the bigger eyes, nose, paws, and does not seem to stop moving. He’s the one that will touch your nose, your eye, and put anything you bring near his mouth into his mouth. You can even stick his own paws into his mouth. It doesn’t hurt, of course, because he is only lightly nibbling. He also will climb onto your back if you have a toy there. I found him sticking to me with all four paws one time when the string was wiggling on my back. He also has a strange habit of yelling at you suddenly to pick him up and hold him.

Tigger likes all kinds of toys, his favorite is a furry bunny tail puff ball, and a knit octopus. The puff ball came with him and is a nice dark grey color that matched my purse. I almost wanted to hang it on my purse, but he said it’s his and not mine. Mochi loves the scratching pad with the revolving ball. They both love string, playing matador with the mini blankets, another octopus made of fur, and most of all, chewing and chasing each other all over the house and especially in the bathtub.

Unfortunately, these guys already got into some trouble since they came home. Both of them love the same plant that Smokey used to chew on.  It must be a very tasty plant. They both started sneezing from the stress of moving and so are now on some antibiotics. We suspect it was also a mixture of allergies because I am also sneezing and having issues breathing these days. I hope I am not suddenly allergic to cats! Back to the kitties.. Mochi chewed on and broke a phone charger. Luckily it was very low voltage or he would have been one dead kitty. Tigger was even worse, he play superman off the second story railing and landed downstairs on the tiles. He actually hurt his paw and was limping around. We iced it that night and do heat packs every night. Mochi even got too rough for him and Tigger claimed the scratching post hole to keep him away.  We caught a video and picture of Mochi finally getting into the hole with Tigger and both of them were alternating biting and grooming and biting each other in the scratching post.

So far, no one can jump on the kitchen or cabinets yet. We are bracing ourselves for the day when they can (which is probably soon).

Getting kittens today!

Today we were supposed to pick up the kittens! We were
informed they are now 5lb and 6lb at 4 months old! Smokey used to be
only 4 lbs. Unfortunately I’m on a trip so I will not see them
until Sunday evening. The parents will be picking them up from our breeder’s house. I cannot wait! We will finally have kittens in the house.

Mr Kite as Best Cat

Mother was browsing and found a video of Mr. Kite announced as Best Cat. I suspect we will still be following his progress even though we are no longer able to purchase his kittens!

Merry Xmas Everyone! Did I mention we’ve picked our kittens?

Well, we finally picked our Maine Coon kitties about two weeks ago. They are probably even bigger by now. None of us were able to visit, and our breeder was expecting a delivery of yet another 4 little kittens! They were all brown tabbies too. I don’t know how she can handle, but she says she has many friends to help (and probably many auntie nanny kitties.)  Our breeder managed to squeeze in time to send us pictures of the younger kittens, and one of the older ones (the one that was chewing on my dad’s fingers). I guess that meant she was undecided between keeping the wide eyed one I liked, and our #1 choice boy.  She told us last weekend she took 8 kittens to get neutered and spayed at the doctor’s office!

After looking at the pictures of the itty bitty kittens grown a little more, my mother decided definitely we would wait for them and take these two younger ones instead. One looks like he’s going to be a Tigger with his naughty look, and one is so fluffy “he’s dripping fur” as our breeder put it. His name will be Mochi. I liked Winnie the Pooh, but mother did not want to go around the house calling for Poo. Somehow, we are going to end up with one smart looking kitten, and one rounder passive looking kitten just like before, except they are both boys this time haha. I do wonder if they might be the reincarnated Smokey and Kitty haha! No kitties for Christmas this year, but we will probably pick them up within a month or two! There is already line for the house visits to meet them. Maybe we will throw a kitty party so they will socialize with people early.

Kittens are such a tease.

First we were worried to find out that our breeder got in a car accident. Then I heard from mother that she is expecting kittens from a female anytime between December 10-12. That is when we were planning to see the kittens one more time before we pick them up. We will not be able to see them until here mamma gives birth and a bit later!  Outlook isn’t so good on pictures because she isn’t very good with her camera. That is a bit disappointing!  I don’t remember getting kittens to be this much suspense. I do remember it was pretty straightforward and we just went and picked up our kitten. Sigh.. what has happened to our luck with maine coons these days. If spirits exist, maybe our cat’s spirit is doing tricks on us and doesn’t want us to take home a kitten yet!

Black cat sighting on the slope

When you are cat deprived, weird things tend to happen, or maybe we pay more attention to other furry animals. Nature threw 6 baby squirrels in our backyard this year, so the backyard spruce tree had the most squirrels it’s ever had since we moved in 12 years ago. Six little squirrels can do a lot of garden damage, like completely covering our groundcover with pine cone shavings.
Yesterday we looked up and saw something black up there. Is it a skunk? Nope, it’s the black cat with white paws , the same one who scared smokey off his couch a few years ago. We called him the cow cat but he doesnt look much like a cow. We can’t believe he is still alive roaming wild outside and looking fatter and very healthy. Apparently, he is having a good time. He must have found our squirrels and was waiting for them to come down. He fell asleep and tried again today. He fell asleep again and the squirrel got away! We hope he comes back again tomorrow.
