Tigger was born September 28, Mochi was born October 12 … or something like that. I came home to two dark little fur balls two weeks ago after snowboarding and finally have a chance to update. They didn’t seem to pay attention to me, but like all kitties, even young ones, you know they are already observing you but just pretending not to pay attention. Mochi played with me right away. Tigger took some time, but after about 15 minutes, he finally decided to accept me and look me straight in the eye, came over to rub against me and even crawled up and claimed my lap for sleeping later that night. Since then, they’ve grown about a head in length of course, averaging 2 oz. per day. They both even go measure their own weight on the electronic weight, it is quite amazing. Tigger is about 8lb today, and Mochi about 6lb.
These two kitties are about two weeks apart, tigger is dainty and slender, Mochi Bear is extra furry, shorter, rounder, thicker, and more hyper. He has the bigger eyes, nose, paws, and does not seem to stop moving. He’s the one that will touch your nose, your eye, and put anything you bring near his mouth into his mouth. You can even stick his own paws into his mouth. It doesn’t hurt, of course, because he is only lightly nibbling. He also will climb onto your back if you have a toy there. I found him sticking to me with all four paws one time when the string was wiggling on my back. He also has a strange habit of yelling at you suddenly to pick him up and hold him.
Tigger likes all kinds of toys, his favorite is a furry bunny tail puff ball, and a knit octopus. The puff ball came with him and is a nice dark grey color that matched my purse. I almost wanted to hang it on my purse, but he said it’s his and not mine. Mochi loves the scratching pad with the revolving ball. They both love string, playing matador with the mini blankets, another octopus made of fur, and most of all, chewing and chasing each other all over the house and especially in the bathtub.
Unfortunately, these guys already got into some trouble since they came home. Both of them love the same plant that Smokey used to chew on. It must be a very tasty plant. They both started sneezing from the stress of moving and so are now on some antibiotics. We suspect it was also a mixture of allergies because I am also sneezing and having issues breathing these days. I hope I am not suddenly allergic to cats! Back to the kitties.. Mochi chewed on and broke a phone charger. Luckily it was very low voltage or he would have been one dead kitty. Tigger was even worse, he play superman off the second story railing and landed downstairs on the tiles. He actually hurt his paw and was limping around. We iced it that night and do heat packs every night. Mochi even got too rough for him and Tigger claimed the scratching post hole to keep him away. We caught a video and picture of Mochi finally getting into the hole with Tigger and both of them were alternating biting and grooming and biting each other in the scratching post.
So far, no one can jump on the kitchen or cabinets yet. We are bracing ourselves for the day when they can (which is probably soon).
