Meeting 13 Kitties, and more, Pat 2

So it’s finally time to meet the kittens! All 10 were in a room waiting for us on a couch, a scratching post, and all over the floor. There was also nanny auntie watching us, and little did we know, mom was in there too, but she came out much later without us noticing. She was watching us all along! We immediately recognized the 4 month  olds (they are 5 month old to date) who were sisters to the show cat. One was blue and one was tabby and they both had the same expressions.

We were once again given the lazer pointer and some toys and left alone for a bit in the room by ourselves to play with the kittens, piling them all on the couch and observing them, and picking them up and taking pictures (because you have to have pictures to remember them all!). We narrowed down to three boys, much to Alex’ disappointment since she wanted us to pay attention to the pretty girls too. Somehow they were bigger and naughtier so we picked them out. She said she was probably going to pick a female out of the group to keep since they were pretty good looking.

Even though the eight 10 week old kittens were almost all identical, here’s how we told them apart: The one we liked had a fishnet kind of patter, and he always looked like he was calm and smiling. He even flipped over on his back and showed us, “hey, I’m a boy, see a boy, pick me!” One of them had bigger paws than the rest and took to licking and sticking to my dad. He was my dad’s favorite and also darker blueish in color mixed in the brown (because their mom was blue).  The final one was my favorite, and I just recognized his huge round eyes and expression. He was a bit jumpy though, and I somehow spooked him three times by looking at him closely.

What happened to the 4 week and 6 week olds, you wonder? Well, after all that observing and choosing, Alex brought in two more very tiny kittens! One was 6 weeks, one was 4 weeks old from Bezees. She only had one male in each litter. My mother went nuts seeing these two, and all our decision making on the last bunch went out the window. Now she wanted these two.

After taking more pictures, we were ready to settle down and make a deposit. We get to visit again in a few weeks when the kittens are a bit older, and then we can make our final decision on which of 2 the 5 boys we wanted to keep.  Since we were first in line, we get first choice and don’t have to worry about the family that was visiting after us haha. It’s already been a week and I wonder how big the kittens have grown since then. I hope my mom doesn’t choose the younger ones so we get to have kittens sooner!
